Que un sello de la talla de Matador Records cumpla 21 años, en la situación que se encuentra la industria discografica actual, no deja de ser menor. Menos si ese sello ha sido el descubridor de grandes bandas de la escena actual como Pavement, Yo La Tengo, Cat Power, Mogwai, Interpol, Girls y Belle and Sebastian entre otros.
Siendo así la cosa, celebrar estos 21 años con toda una variedad de artistas, sonidos e historias, solo se puede hacer con el método Matador. El label anuncio la salida al mercado de un box set que contiene la módica suma de 6 discos, repasando la historia de uno de los sellos mas fructíferos de los últimos años.
El box set además incluye un libro con la historia del sello y un set de fichas de poker conmemorativo. Su fecha de lanzamiento esta planeado para el día 1 de octubre, día en que el sello celebrara su aniversario con 3 días de música, en donde se presentaran 20 bandas, entre las que destacan Sonic Youth, Belle and Sebastian, Guied by Voices y The New Pornographers. Lo recaudado sera en beneficio de distintas organizaciones de caridad en la bohemia ciudad neoyorkina.
